Rep. Fine to Newsmax: Mamdani wants to destroy America

Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Wednesday that New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani is out to "destroy America," arguing the democratic socialist's agenda poses a threat to the country's laws, national security, and relationship with Israel.

On "American Agenda," Fine also said Mamdani should be denaturalized and deported and said he hopes the mayor stays away from New York City's ceremonies marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11 because his presence would be "a disgrace" to the victims of the terrorist attacks.

The lawmaker's criticism began with Mamdani's remarks about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Israel's latest military operations against Hamas.

"Zohran Mamdani criticized Benjamin Netanyahu for killing Hamas terrorists yesterday," he said. "To be an apologist for terrorists makes you a terrorist.

"The people from Hamas who sit in Qatar and Turkey, who aren't blowing themselves up but are running the organization, they are terrorists. And if you're going to try to whitewash it and feed us this propaganda, you're a terrorist, too."

Fine argued that Mamdani should have never been permitted to become a U.S. citizen in the first place.

"He should be denaturalized and he should be deported," Fine said. "He's a danger to this country."

Asked what he believes Mamdani's ultimate objective is, Fine replied: "I think his goal is to destroy America. I think that's very clear."

He then questioned Mamdani's motives for becoming a U.S. citizen.

"Why would you go to a country that you hate, whose policies you hate, whose values you don't believe in, and why would you want to become a part of that country except to destroy it?" Fine asked. "He and the people he's pushing have a single-minded goal, and that is the destruction of this country."

Turning to the upcoming 9/11 memorial marking the 25th anniversary of the attacks, Fine accused Mamdani of refusing to respect U.S. law and said that should disqualify him from participating.

"What's going on in New York is soft secession," Fine said. "When you say, 'I'm going to enforce judicial warrants that have no force of law in the United States,' when you say, 'I'm not going to follow immigration law,' that's not how this works.

"We are a nation of laws. If you don't like our laws, you elect people to change them."

Fine added: "As for Sept. 11, I hope he stays far away. I think his presence there will be a disgrace to the memories of the 3,000 Americans who died, because I think he's far more sympathetic to the terrorists than I think he is to the Americans who died on that day."
