Police arrest 2nd suspect accused of vandalizing St. Pete’s tallest building

St. Petersburg police have arrested a second man accused of vandalizing the city’s tallest building.

James Boyle, 38, turned himself in Wednesday morning on a felony charge of criminal mischief, records show. Police say he and Andrew O’Neill, 34, broke windows and tore up landscaping lights at the Residences at 400 Central earlier this month, causing $96,000 in damage.

An arrest affidavit for Boyle was not immediately available. Records show he was being held at the Pinellas County Jail on a $5,000 bond.

O’Neill was arrested Saturday after turning himself in, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department. An arrest affidavit states that a witness identified O’Neill from the footage of him kicking landscaping lights around 11:35 p.m. on July 11. O’Neill damaged 14 lights, costing $1,500, the affidavit states.

Boyle, who was listed as a co-defendant on the affidavit, damaged three windows, each worth $25,000, the affidavit states.

The Residences at 400 Central opened last December after four years of construction. Condos in the 46-story building, which rises 515 feet, cost between $1 million and almost $7 million for a penthouse.
