Kaylee Hottle, 'Godzilla vs. Kong' actress and Texas School for the Deaf student, dies in crash

Actress Kaylee Hottle, a senior at the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin who starred in Godzilla vs. Kong, died Monday in a car crash in Maryland. She was 18.

Hottle's father, Joshua Hottle, announced her death during a tearful Facebook livestream Tuesday conducted in American Sign Language. The Texas School for the Deaf also confirmed her death in a Facebook post Tuesday morning. 

In its post, the school said it had limited information about the crash and asked the public to respect the family's privacy.

"It is with profound sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that one of our TSD seniors, Kaylee Hottle, tragically passed away yesterday in a car crash in Frederick, Maryland. Our hearts are with Kaylee's family, friends, classmates and everyone who knew and loved her during this incredibly difficult time," the post said

"At this time, we have very limited information and ask that everyone respect Kaylee's family's privacy and refrain from sharing or speculating about the circumstances surrounding the accident. We recognize this loss will have a significant impact on our TSD community," the post continued.

The school said it is offering counseling and support services for students and staff and that Hottle's classmates and friends are receiving additional support as they cope with her sudden death.

Hottle, born in May 2007 in Georgia, came from an all-deaf family. Her family's deaf heritage spans across four generations on her father's side, her IMDb biography states. According to her Instagram, she enjoyed doing work to spread awareness about the deaf community. 

"Please keep Kaylee's loved ones in your thoughts as we mourn this tremendous loss together," the school wrote.
