An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other charges after allegedly fleeing San Francisco police and hitting a car that smashed into an Audi dealership, authorities said.
Eight people were injured in the Sunday night wreck in the Mission District.
Police said the driver - identified as Jason Ulloa Vasquez of Oakland - refused to stop after being flagged down by an officer near Guerrero and 19th streets.
The fleeing car struck another occupied car near 14th Street and South Van Ness Avenue, sending it into a fire hydrant and an Audi dealership on the corner. The collision also damaged several parked vehicles and left debris scattered across the intersection.
Two of the eight taken to hospitals were critically injured, police said, and the rest suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Seven of them had been traveling in the vehicle allegedly driven by Vasquez. His passengers ranged in age from 13 to 24, police said.
Vasquez was booked Monday on suspicion of several offenses, including evading police and causing serious injury, reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and cannabis, child endangerment, running a red light and driving without a valid license.
A passenger, identified as 23-year-old Pedro Enrique Padilla Ulloa of San Francisco, was arrested on suspicion of resisting or delaying an officer and battery against a police officer, authorities said.
Police said they did not initiate a pursuit of the vehicle.
