Growing your bank account while keeping a flexible schedule can be a tricky balance to strike. The classic solution -- cash-under-the-table gigs -- has mostly gone the way of the flip phone. But what if you could get paid the same day you clock out, on the books, at a real company?

Turns out, you can. A growing number of major employers now offer earned wage access, letting workers cash out a chunk of their paycheck before payday actually arrives. CNBC has reported that retailers, restaurants and ride-share companies are among the biggest names offering this perk.

So, if same-day pay is the goal, it pays to know where to look. Here are six companies that will let you work today and see money in your account before the day is done.

1. Walmart

Walmart introduced instant pay via the app ONE@Work (formerly Even) a few years ago in an effort to offer Instapay. Basically, this allows employees to access up to 50% of their earned but unpaid wages before their regular payday, which is typically an option that is provided for free to associates.

2. Lyft

Through Lyft, you're technically not an employee but rather an independent contractor. So, the platform allows you to cash in on same-day pay in one of two ways.

The first is Lyft Direct, which acts as a business debit card (powered by Payfare) that automatically deposits your earnings instantly after every ride with no transfer fees. The second is via Express Pay, which is a feature that allows you to cash out your available earnings instantly to an eligible debit card at any time for a $1.75 fee per transaction

3. Amazon

As a global conglomerate, you would think Amazon has enough cash reserve to pay its employees daily should they so choose -- and you’d be right. The Amazon Anytime Pay program offers same-day pay for hourly warehouse employees. That means eligible associates can instantly cash out up to 50% to 75% of their earned, after-tax wages whenever they want.

4. Duracell

Duracell partners with DailyPay, which is a platform that allows workers to instantly access a portion of their earned wages rather than waiting for their traditional weekly or bi-weekly paychecks. This is great in a financial pinch, as you can track your earnings and transfer money directly to your bank account or debit card

In other words, it helps keep your bank account fully charged.

5. Taco Bell

If you truly want to live más and get paid in a timely fashion, Taco Bell could be a great part-time or full-time job for you. For example, many Taco Bell employees have access to same-day pay, though to what degree can be dependent on the specific franchise owner.

While standard payroll is bi-weekly, many locations partner with on-demand pay apps like DailyPay, Tapcheck or Instant Financial. These apps allow you to access a portion of your earned wages immediately after a shift, which can be crucial during a money crunch.

6. Target

Target also offers same-day pay access through their partnership with DailyPay. That means if you work there, you can withdraw up to 50% of your earned shift wages almost immediately after clocking out. Keep in mind that instant transfers incur a small transaction fee, while next-day transfers are typically free.
