As we continue in our "3 unanswered questions" series, we take a look at the AFC South, which houses the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Tennessee Titans. This division has seen rapid improvement in all aspects and should be one of the more competitive divisions in 2026. Up first, we will take a look at what the Houston Texans could focus on during training camp.
Of course, the first unanswered questions to come up will be whether or not Texans QB C.J. Stroud can get back to rookie form, and if he doesn't, is the leash very short? The organization has pledged a commitment to Stroud, but this will be his last chance to prove himself as a winner in the playoffs and beyond. This is a huge turning-point season for C.J. Stroud. No more postseason turnovers this year.
The lack of running last season did not do C.J. Stroud any favors. The downhill presence of newly acquired running back David Montgomery should keep opposing defenses honest. The tackle boxes will not be so loaded this year. With this addition, it should create more opportunities for the Texans to move the ball down the field and capitalize with touchdowns rather than field goals.
The Texans are being patient with wide receiver Tank Dell after a horrendous injury in 2024. He suffered a dislocated knee and tore his ACL, MCL, and LCL. He is making steady progress and attempting to get back on the field. Will he have an immediate impact when he does? The Texans' hope is that he hasn't lost too much of a step and can get back to near where he was before.
