Overview

The 2026 Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV is a high-performance midsize luxury SUV that sits at the top of the Range Rover Sport lineup as its most performance-focused variant. It runs a specially tuned 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged BMW V8 with mild-hybrid assistance, producing 626 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive manage power delivery, pushing it from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.6 seconds and on to a 180 mph top speed.

Built on the MLA-Flex platform, this SUV pairs performance hardware with traditional Range Rover refinement. The 6D Dynamics air suspension works alongside the world’s first 23-inch carbon-fiber wheels and the largest dual-cast brake discs fitted to a production vehicle.

What's New for 2026?

The 2026 Range Rover Sport SV lineup expands with two new variants alongside the standard SV: SV Black (all the images of the Narvik black car in this review) and SV Carbon (the photos of the Carbon Bronze car in this review). SV Black adopts a fully darkened appearance with Narvik Black paint, Gloss Black detailing, a carbon-fiber hood, and matching 23-inch wheels and brake callipers over an Ebony Windsor leather interior.

SV Carbon leans toward weight reduction and track intent. It features exposed or painted carbon fiber for the hood, offers carbon-ceramic brakes, optional 23-inch carbon-fiber wheels, and a choice of Forged Carbon or Twill Carbon exterior accents.

Exterior

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV builds on the standard Sport’s design with a more aggressive edge. Unique bumpers, a carbon-fiber hood, and larger air intakes give it a sharper presence. Flush door handles maintain a smooth profile, while the continuous waistline and sloping roofline create a purposeful stance.

Standard 23-inch forged alloy wheels come in multiple finishes, including a carbon-fiber wheel that reduces unsprung weight. Quad exhaust tips and darkened trim underline its performance focus. Wraparound LED headlights with Auto High Beam Assist and sequential turn signals complete the look.

Interior

Inside, the Range Rover Sport SV uses a driver-focused layout. A 13.7-inch driver display pairs with a curved 13.1-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen, while hidden controls handle climate functions. A dedicated SV Mode button lowers ride height, sharpens throttle response, quickens shifts, and changes cabin lighting to red.

The Body and Soul Seat system integrates SUBPAC haptic technology into the front seats, allowing occupants to feel audio through vibrations. Standard features include 22-way heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, four-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a Meridian sound system. Semi-aniline leather covers most surfaces.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • 626-hp twin-turbo V8 delivers supercar acceleration
  • 6D Dynamics suspension keeps body movement tightly controlled
  • 23-inch carbon fiber wheels reduce unsprung weight
  • Body and Soul Seat adds a unique sensory layer
  • Maintains full off-road capability

Cons:

  • $152,000 starting price rises quickly with SV Black and Carbon
  • 18 mpg combined fuel economy remains high for the class
  • 31.9 cu-ft cargo capacity falls behind some rivals
  • Land Rover’s long-term reliability record remains mixed

Verdict

The Land Rover Range Rover Sport SV mid-size performance SUV delivers a distinct driving experience. The 626-hp twin-turbo V8 provides strong acceleration, while the 6D Dynamics suspension keeps the nearly 5,400-lb SUV composed in corners and comfortable on long drives. SV Mode sharpens responses, lowers the stance, and adds a more aggressive exhaust tone, while normal settings return it to a refined cruiser.

The three SV variants offer clear differences. The standard SV balances luxury and performance. SV Black focuses on visual presence. SV Carbon targets weight reduction and sharper dynamics. All share the same powertrain. At this price, it competes with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT and BMW XM. The Range Rover stands out by combining speed, off-road capability, and a quiet, high-end interior in one package.

For buyers who plan to use it daily, that dual character matters. It handles commuting, long-distance touring, and occasional performance driving without requiring adjustment from the driver. That versatility, combined with its distinctive hardware and design choices, reinforces its position as a high-performance SUV that still prioritizes comfort and usability.
