1. 💦 Hit a splash pad

Smale Riverfront Park, Washington Park, Juilfs Park in Anderson Township and other splash pads offer a free way to beat the heat.

2. 🦋 Chase butterflies at Krohn Conservatory

The annual Butterfly Show through Aug. 9 is a Cincinnati summer tradition. Kids under 5 get in free and admission for older kids is just $8.

3. 🥾Go creek stomping

French Park and California Woods are local favorites for splashing through shallow creeks, skipping rocks and spotting crawdads.

4. 🛝 Spend the day at Summit Park

One of the region's best playgrounds also hosts free summer movies, concerts and family programming.

5. 📚 Let the library do the entertaining

The Cincinnati & Hamilton County Public Library hosts free story readings, crafts, STEM activities, performers and reading challenges all summer.

6. ☕️ Storytime at Fulton Yards Coffee

Every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., the shop hosts free "Toddler Tuesdays." Little ones hear a story, talk about it and complete a themed coloring activity while parents and caregivers enjoy coffee and connect with other families.

7. 🎨 Pop into Pop-Up Play

Washington Park also hosts free Tuesday activities including crafts, games, yoga and special guests through the summer.

8. 🖼️ Explore the Cincinnati Art Museum

General admission is always free, and the Rosenthal Education Center offers hands-on art activities for kids on weekends.

9. 🌲 Explore Great Parks

Sharon Woods, Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest all offer inexpensive day-use opportunities with playgrounds, nature centers and miles of trails.

10. 🎬 Find a free movie night

Communities across Hamilton County host outdoor movies and concerts throughout the summer. Check your city's parks department calendar
